PROJECT - BIOGAS (ARUSHA).
 

Project Aim: Sensitize and facilitate execution of small scale biogas projects to Maasai and other pastoral families in Arusha and Manyara regions so as to minimise the pressure on the use of firewood and other unsustainable use of non-renewable energy sources for cooking and lighting.

Project strategy: 1. Conduct sensitisation campaigns to Maasai and other pastoral families in Arusha and Manyara regions on effective use of cow dung for biogas projects in their locations.

 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 

2. Seek local and international like minded institutions to subsidise biogas project equipment and materials so as to enable undertaking biogas projects in Maasai and other pastoral families in Arusha and Manyara regions of Tanzania for which the beneficially communities will contribute 15% of total project cost.

3. Promote formulation of Ward Renewable Energy Sources/Environmental Committees to spearhead effective identification and use of renewable energy sources as well as other environmental related matters.

4. Promote formulation of Renewable Energy Funds of which rural and urban low income families would benefit from by being members.

Progress Made: 1. Ongoing sensitisation campaigns through provision of IEC materials to Themi mashariki residents is being done through Green Hope's Njiro resource center an outreach programme is currently being developed.

2.Plans for promoting Ward Renewable Energy Sources/Environmental Committees are being conceptualised ready for presentation to pilot project wards in Arusha and Manyara regions.

3. Ongoing initiatives to mobilise local as well as international like minded partners to be part of this initiatives are being done by our Mwanza and Arusha offices.
